- Minimum 2 years experience.
- Ability to obtain a detailed patient history from clients.
- Write a well written, grammatically correct medical record (the portion you are responsible for).
- Convey an organized explanation of history and concerns to the doctor.
- Ability to draw up and administer injections – subcutaneously, intramuscular, and intravenous.
- Ability to draw blood for in house tests and send out blood tests (from the various typical venipuncture sites) with proper technique.
- Proficiency at intravenous catheter placement.
- Proficient in anesthesia set up, induction/intubation of a patient, and anesthetic monitoring of blood pressure, pulse oximetry, EKG, body temperature, etc.
- Basic knowledge of surgery setup, surgical assisting, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform dental prophylaxis and set up for a comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment.

- Checking clients and pets in for appointments.
- Helping obtain patient weights when checking in, when applicable.
- Answering phones in a professional manner and assisting clients with various questions and requests such as scheduling appointments, refilling medication, basic medical questions with proper documentation of these conversations in the medical record software.
- Basic handling of pets as is sometimes needed during check in.
- Concluding a client’s invoice via cash, check, credit card, or care credit (training would be provided as needed).
- Always maintaining a clean, sanitary, and odor free front office.
- Knowledge of medical software is a plus but must at least have basic computer knowledge with Windows operating systems and competent writing abilities.
- Presentable appearance at all times.
